Program Objective
|
The chief objective of the Professional Tractor-trailer Driver Training Program
offered by Shippers’ Choice of Virginia, Inc. is to train qualified individuals in the knowledge
and skills needed to obtain a job entry level position in the trucking industry. Shippers’ Choice
instructs its students in the practical operation of tractor-trailer trucks. Students are
taught the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as they apply to the operation of commercial
vehicles. Upon graduation, our students must be able to safely operate a tractor-trailer, have a
working knowledge of the equipment, and be able to pass state administered licensing tests. In
addition, students must be able to successfully complete the required written examinations and road
tests administered by both the school and potential employers.

As a secondary
objective, students achieve the self-confidence needed to secure employment. This is accomplished
through thorough testing and evaluation of each student. To most of our
perspective students, having a good job with a good income means not only a higher standard of
living, but an increased feeling of self- respect. Shippers’ Choice of Virginia, Inc. through its
training program, provides an educational vehicle that individuals may use to provide a more
productive and successful future and achieve their employment goals in an economical way. The need
for training in this field is dramatic, as the trucking industry is second only to agriculture in
employment.
